Camps are a welcoming, fun, and relaxed environment that nurtures conversation and deeper relationships. For many kids and students a week at camp is the next step in their faith journey, an opportunity to learn more about God, to experience a loving community, and to engage with Jesus through worship, prayer, and Scripture.

Good news alert! Here are 5 things that happened in 2023 at Soul Sanctuary that are worth celebrating!

The 2023 Legacy Offering is going towards fulfilling three key initiatives: (1) Local and Global Initiatives, (2) Technological upgrades to our Children’s and Youth Ministry spaces, and (3) Church vitality initiatives.

By focusing on the number of people who give to the Legacy Offering, we aim to cultivate a sense of unity and shared purpose within our community—a reminder that each individual plays an integral part in our collective journey as we learn to become generous followers of Jesus.

Last year we set out a goal of raising $150,000, over and above our regular tithes, to fulfill three vision-based initiatives that would help us better actualize our vision of being a community of refuge, repair, and rejuvenation for all people. We’re excited to say that all three of our initiatives have been completed! Here is a breakdown of how the funds we gave have made a difference in our community.

Over the past five weeks our Sunday preaching has focused on exploring the “why” of our Sunday worship gatherings. Coming out of that series, here are five possible next steps that you can take in your relationship with God.

One of our family values is that we believe that the message of Jesus is for everyone, this includes the youngest of children in our community. We’re so excited to implement a series of important changes to our Sunday ministry for those in Soul Kids and Soul Kids Jr.

Why do you show up to Soul on Sunday mornings? What meaning is there in coming together in person to sing, pray, and hear a sermon preached from the Bible? Sundays is a five week sermon series that explores the “why” of our Sunday worship gatherings. Starting on September 10 we will examine the core elements of our Sunday worship gatherings and explore their historical and spiritual significance along with how they directly relate to Christian practice.

We believe that the message of Jesus is for everyone, our children and youth included. Here at Soul we place a strong emphasis on our Family Ministries and prioritize the discipleship of young people in recognition that they are at a critical time in their faith formation. 

We all wrestle with life’s biggest questions; questions about hope, purpose, meaning, and love. Imagine a space where people in our community; our friends, neighbours, and co-workers can come and have conversations in a way that is authentic and unforced.

In 2022 we set out to hire a Children’s Ministry Pastor who would oversee the vision, Servant Leaders, and ministry activities related to Soul Kids, Soul Kids Jr. and Soul Kids Summer Ministries.

In keeping with our desire to be a transparent and accountable community, here is an update on the dispersion of our Legacy Offering funds that were given in late 2022.

Over the course of the last month there have been some staffing changes at Soul Sanctuary that are new and noteworthy.

This year we will not receive federal funding for our summer camps, resulting in a $50,000 budget reduction. Instead of canceling our plans we are committed to ensuring a successful summer of kids and youth camps. Here is how you can help make this summer a the best summer yet!

Essentials is a five week sermon series that explores the foundational elements of the Christian faith. Starting on May 21 we will preach through a series of essential Christian doctrines in a way that makes them accessible to all people, Christian and skeptic alike.
