Pakistani Refugee Sponsorship: Update and Call to Action

Since the Spring of 2019 the Soul Sanctuary community has been working towards sponsoring a refugee family (Mother, Father, Daughter (11), Son (10)) from Pakistan. This family of four has escaped religious persecution in Pakistan and has been living in East Asia where they are being unofficially supported by a local church community in their region. Unable to work, they are living in very challenging conditions, navigating life in a new country with limited resources and fully dependant on their Christian community to survive. The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic had severely limited our ability to progress with plans to bring the family to Canada, however they have recently been approved for entry into Canada and are now arranging travel. Due to the uncertainty surrounding global travel, arrival dates are not yet known but this could change rapidly.

As a church community we want to prepare for their arrival by collecting home furnishings, household items and financial provisions to help them get accustomed to their new lives in Canada.

The below checklist outlines the items we are seeking to secure:

Items can be dropped off at Soul Sanctuary during regular office hours, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm. Arrangements can also be made for evening drop-off by contacting the office at 204.226.2324.

You can give financially by clicking the link below.

We’ll continuously update the community as we receive more information.
