Transformation Begins in Community

Transformation begins in community. As followers of Jesus, we are called to grow and continue being transformed by the Holy Spirit to become more and more like Jesus. The reality is transformation like this has always happened within community. It’s in community where we are poured into and encouraged. It’s in community where we pour into and encourage others. It’s in community where we wrestle with tension and difference, all while guided by the Holy Spirit to show the love and gentleness of Jesus. In his book, Invitation to a Journey, M. Robert Mulholland says:

If you want a good litmus test of your spiritual growth, simply examine the nature and quality of your relationships with others. Are you more loving, more compassionate, more patient, more understanding, more caring, more giving, more forgiving than you were a year ago?

These positive changes cannot happen when we live isolated from others. This is why we have Life Groups, intentional communities where we can be challenged and encouraged in our growth and where we can challenge and encourage others, regardless of where we are on the journey, to become more and more like Jesus.

We have a range of groups that typically meet weekly or bi-weekly and focus on a variety of topics. Some groups go through a bible study while other groups have a more social emphasis, all while being a place of community where we can challenge, encourage, and pray for one another. Our Life Groups function on a semesterized schedule with Fall Semester launching September 12 and running for 12 weeks. Winter Semester will launch in January 2022, running for 12 weeks, and Summer Semester will launch in July 2022 for 6 weeks.

God has designed us to be in community with one another, so check out our Life Group database and consider joining a life group this semester. If you need help starting a group, or would like to know more about leading a group connect here with Mike, our Discipleship Director.
