Is the Soul Internship for You?

The Soul Sanctuary Internship is a 10-month program that seeks to challenge, teach, and guide interns between the ages of 18 and 25 to be well-equipped leaders in the local church. As followers of Jesus, we are all called to reflect God’s image into a broken world. This is true of every follower of Jesus, whether you’re thinking of entering into full-time ministry, the regular workforce, or continued post-secondary education. This program will seek to equip you regardless of which path you choose to pursue.

We exist to raise up church leaders who are passionate about the mission of Jesus and the love of God.

During these 10 months you will be taught and equipped in various topics related to theology, spiritual formation, and ministry within the local church. This is accomplished through in-house classes taught by our staff with focus in their areas of expertise. In addition, interns will be enrolled in two accredited courses facilitated by Providence College and their faculty.

While we hold immense value for the wisdom and knowledge gained in formal teaching and academics, this is only one half of which is made whole through hands on experience. During the intern week you will put to practice the head and heart knowledge you have been learning in a variety of ministry contexts. This will range from Sunday gatherings, mid-week inner city excursions, Friday evening kids and youth ministry, including both upfront and behind the scenes roles.

As you seek to learn and experience ministry you will quickly become aware that you are not doing these things alone. We are not made to go it alone, but rather in community with others. You will not only grow in relationship with the staff and servant leaders of Soul Sanctuary, but also in relationship with your fellow interns. Intentional time to grow as a team is built into the internship through various excursions and adventures such as our orientation retreat and desert meditation, a church ministry conference in Alberta and zip-lining, to name just a few.

So, is the Soul Internship for you? Do you have a heart to grow in your relationship with Jesus, being able to reflect him and his light to a hurting and broken world? Do you wish to grow in your relationship with others, seeking their good and wellbeing above your own? If you’ve answered yes to these, then regardless of whether you’re thinking of pursuing full-time ministry, entering the workforce, or continuing in post-secondary education in the near future, the answer is yes, the Soul Internship is for you!
