Soul Kids

Come and join us!

Soul Kids is for children in Nursery, Preschool and  Kindergarten to Grade 5.  Soul Kids meets while the adults are in the main gathering.  Children remain with their parents for a time of worship, and are then dismissed for a fun and interactive hour of carefully-planned, age-appropriate activities designed to challenge and encourage children in their walks with God.

1) Soul Kids Nursery – from infancy to age 2

The nursery is an important aspect of our children’s ministry and is the cooperative efforts of parents and volunteers.  This dedicated team of volunteers has one of the most important jobs in our church. They provide care for the youngest members of our church each Sunday during the 9:59 gathering. They help to lay a firm foundation of faith in the lives of the babies and toddlers. While children are held, cuddled, fed, talked to, and played with, they learn that church is a friendly place where they are loved.

2)  Soul Kids Preschool – for children aged 3 and 4

Preschool seeks to partner with parents in nurturing the first crucial years of a child’s life by teaching basic Bible truths and providing a loving environment at the church that reflects the enduring love of our Father in heaven. On Sunday mornings we teach God’s Word through Bible stories, singing, crafts and group interaction.

This year in Preschool, we are exploring the Word of God using the Tru Wonder curriculum from David C. Cook Publishing.  Our preschoolers will be led through the entire Bible chronologically, with an emphasis on exploration and discovery of the WONDER of God’s work in our lives.

3) Soul Kids K-5 - for children from Kindergarten to Grade 5

Sunday mornings in Soul Kids K-5, kids experience an exciting environment full of rich storytelling, active searching through God’s Word, and a variety of expressive worship experiences designed to cultivate a viable and exciting relationship with Jesus Christ. Following our large group storytelling and worship, the children are divided by grade and meet in small groups.  Here, reflective discussion, corporate prayer, and interactive games help build friendships between the children, between the children and the small group leaders, and between the children and their Maker. Small groups are shepherded by dedicated volunteers, who lead kids in discovering what it means to go deep into the Bible and learn how to respond to and apply God’s Word in their everyday lives.

This year in K-5, we will be using David C. Cook’s Tru Story curriculum for elementary aged children.  The Soul Kids will also be going through the Bible chronologically, focusing specifically on how each Bible story, each verse, each and every moment recorded in the Word, points us forward to the cross and God’s redemptive plan for our lives.  Kids are presented with opportunities to respond to God’s greatness through a variety of expressive worship experiences, including song, movement, art, written prayer and giving, both in large and small group settings.

Our Children’s Ministry staff and volunteers are committed to supporting families in their daily mission to build strong foundations of faith in their homes.   Kids are sent home with a family devotional resource each week called Home Front Weekly.  This valuable, easy-to-use tool is intended to inspire, support and equip families to engage in faith conversations at home.

We would love to have you come and see what it’s all about, whether to lend a hand or simply to observe – it’s an exciting place to be! We’ll be looking for you!
